(Saturday Snapshot is brought to you by At Home With Books. Join us!)
Best Friend and I are at the age where we get a lot of invitations to weddings and baby showers. Every invitation I’ve received is lovely, but the most recent one really takes the cake (ha!) when it comes to uniqueness and nerdiness.
First up, unique colors and “packaging”:
Then it opens to reveal the invitation and extra inserts:
And then the nerdiness:
The RSVP options read: Will be there with bells on! and Will not be there, have bell phobia.
And possibly my favorite:
Marriage: the final frontier. This is the voyage of Jason and Jessica Bye. Their lifetime mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new happiness, to boldly go where no couple has gone before.
Definitely the most creative and personalized invitation I’ve ever seen.
Very cool invite. I love the Star Trek language in the invite. And the purple and gold remind me of royalty. Kudos to a creative couple!
The “Star Trek” language is my favorite part too. The whole thing definitely falls in line with the couple’s personality.
Such elegant invitations, filled, as you put it, with such wonderful nerdiness. This engaged couple sound like they have a terrific sense of humor.
It’s the first invitation I’ve ever been excited to open and discover. They really do have a great sense of fun and creativity. Makes me wonder if it will carry through to the ceremony and reception.
Truly far out … I do wonder what the bride will wear and where they are honeymooning.
I don’t know the bride as well as I know the groom, so she might go traditional. But either way it’ll be a fun shindig!
Very unusual! My Snapshot is here http://goo.gl/ZsnvZ
Unusual, and so much fun! And thank you for stopping by here!
I meant to say thank you for visiting my blog.
Oh, that’s great! I love people that have a sense of humor about what could otherwise be a boring tradition.
Agreed. Weddings can be a bit stilted sometimes; I’m lucky to have friends who do creative things like this, and who are fun.
Oh wow – that is such a cool way to make an invitation. I went to one wedding this summer and that was enough for me!
If I were the marryin’ kind I’d totally steal this idea. 🙂 The last wedding I went to was a couple years ago; more of my friends are moving into the “first baby!” stage, so there’s lots of photos of red, wrinkly infants popping up in my Facebook feed. 😀
Oh, wow! Star Trek envy here. I never even thought of incorporating it into our wedding (even though the hubby and I are both Trek fans). How awesome.
Here’s my Snapshot.
You can always renew your vows. 😉
Very clever.
Yep. And fun too!
I sure wouldn’t miss that wedding if I got an invitation like that!
I’m not planning to miss either!
How lovely, I expect you’ll be there with bells on!
Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise, I’ll definitely be there. 🙂
I’m not able to comment on your blog, but I love your in-flight photos — excellent views. We’ve had some major fires in the states recently, and it’s always shocking to see how long it takes the land to recover.
The inclusion of the Star Trek theme is fantastic! I thought maybe there was going to be something Doctor Who because of the Tardis Blue invitation color. Definitely awesome geekiness in the invite though!
The invitation is actually purple — and it’s a little sparkly too, which I like.
A “Dr. Who” themed invitation would be genius. It could look like the Tardis and you’d open the door and there would be the info. Genius!
Love it! Classy but humorous and personal, that’s my kind of invitation! I bet it’s one you always remember. 🙂
I think it’s indeed a great combo of class and humor. It manages to be formal and express the fun personalities of the bride and groom.
If the invite is any indication, it’s going to be one heck of a wedding!
