No update today because I’m currently approximately nine hours into a two-day Sacred Harp singing (the Texas State Convention, to be precise).
Regular posting resumes this week; in the meantime I leave you with #274, “The Golden Harp”:
Farewell, vain world, I’m going home
To play on the Golden Harp.
My Savior smiles and bids me come
To play on the Golden Harp.
Chorus:
I want to be where Jesus is,
To play on the Golden Harp.
Sweet angels beckon me away
To play on the Golden Harp.
To sing God’s praise in endless day
To play on the Golden Harp.
(Chorus)
Hi Amy!
I just wantd you to know how much I enjoy your blog and how interested I continue to be in this wonderful Sacred Harp singing that you do. Thanks for keeping me inspired about the latter and intrigued by the former!
Thank you so much, Laurie — it’s lovely to hear such encouraging words! 🙂
I’m not exactly sure where you’re located, but your profile says the Pacific Northwest. There’s a BIG Sacred Harp community up there. A lot of stuff happens in Portland and Seattle.

Under the “Local or ‘practice’ singings” there’s a list of local singings by state. Hope you find something near you! And if you’re ever at a Texas sing, we’ll be sure to meet up. 😀
