(Notable Quotables is a meme originally brought to you by the Bewitched Bookworms. Every Monday you’re invited to share a favorite quote or two from the books you’ve been reading.)
Every book is, in one way or another, about a journey; this can be a journey between two worlds or between two minds.
It’s great to see characters grow and change and become who they’re supposed to be. It’s also great to look back and see how I myself have changed, and been affected by books. Stories are an irreplaceable part of my life, and of Anna Quindlen’s as well:
“Books are the plane, and the train, and the road. They are the destination, and the journey. They are home.”
It’s also fun to look forward into my future, and make plans and guesses about where I’ll go and what I’ll do. I can’t tell the future, but I agree with Bruce Wilkinson when he says:
“You were born for more. You are called to go after larger and larger dreams for God, and He will go with you. So when you hear Him say, ‘Come Further,’ pick up your knapsack. Your horizon is full of promise. Another big dream is out there waiting for you, and if you don’t pursue it, something important won’t happen.”
I’ve really enjoyed the “Notable Quotables” meme, and I’m sad to see it go. But I’m sure there are plenty of other Monday Memes out there. It will certainly be a fun journey to find one.
What journey(s) have you been on recently? What lessons have you learned?
I’m so bad at keeping up with my memes.
I think this whole blogging thing has become a wonderful experience. Meeting new people. Finding an outlet. Writing more. It’s been something that is wholely mine, and I haven’t had that in a long time.
I credit memes with helping me find more great blogs, and getting more involved in the whole book blogging scene in general. Plus it’s a good way to know exactly what you’ll be posting about on the day for which it’s set! 🙂
I credit blogging with keeping me sane for the eight months it took me to find a job after college graduation. Nothing in the world is more horrible to me than loafing around my apartment doing nothing for over half a year. I’ve always loved learning, and it was doubly horrifying to feel that I hadn’t progressed or learned anything. As with you, blogging was a great way to get my creative juices flowing, as well as establish goals for myself. I can’t believe I’ve been doing it for a year a half!
