I just finished Big Red Tequila, the first in the Tres Navarre series by author Rick Riordan. Although he’s best known for his fabulous Young Adult fiction series revolving around the Greek, Egyptian, and Roman pantheons, Riordan actually got his start writing about Tres, Tequila drinker, Tai Chi Master, and unlicensed P.I. This mystery series is set in San Antonio and its surrounding environs, and I’m loving every minute of it. Think Clive Cussler with a South Texas spin.

So this one’s cheating a bit, because I actually just put down Georgette Heyer’s The Corinthian, about two people who are running away from marriages of convenience — and in typical Heyer fashion, the adventures they end up going on are anything but normal. But they certainly are entertaining!

Hm…I think I’m in the mood for a little scandal. Maybe I’ll try out Karen Abbott’s Sin in the Second City: Madams, Ministers, Playboys, and the Battle for America’s Soul. It might be just the thing I need to unwind after a long day at work.
Have you read any of these? What did you think? Let me know in the comments!
Interesting, I didn’t know that about Riordan, I haven’t had a chance to read him yet, though I plan to, but this one also sounds good as I do like Clive Cussler!
I keep hearing about Georgette Heyer, so I’m going to have to try her out, I did find one recently on Amazon free for Kindle, so I have no excuse not to now! 🙂

I stumbled upon the Tres Navarre series on accident, actually: I was clicking around on Riordan’s website, looking at all the information about Percy Jackson and the Kane kids, and found the section Riordan’s novels for adults. And I finally got a copy from my local library.
I’ve loved Cussler since high school, and it’s nice to read new stories that are in the same vein. Plus, they’re set in the San Antonio area, where I live; it’s fun to read descriptions of things I’ve seen and places I’ve been. 🙂
Heyer is totally worth diving into! I haven’t found her mystery novels to be terribly exciting, but all her period pieces are great. I recommend The Grand Sophy and The Masqueraders in particular, although I enjoyed The Corinthian as well. Thank goodness for free ebooks!
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I had no idea about the Riordan book. I will have to look into that.
I’ve stumbled on lots of great books in the last year or so — I love happy accidents like that. 🙂
